Datamills Expanding Team
Your IT in even safer hands as Datamills expands!
Datamills clients know their IT really is in ‘safe’ hands now the team has expanded further at their new Nursery Works premises on Little London Road.
Sheffield born and bred founder Andrew Mills had already been joined by former IT apprentice Alex, now a fully trained technician and Anne Seivewright on accounts. As demand has increasingly grown beyond businesses into the charities and care homes sector Andrew is specialising in, John Green has joined as a support technician and Anne Batty on administration.
When Andrew first took over the premises last year, he was stunned to discover his new office had a massive safe in the corner!
“I found out the building had originally belonged to a main competitor of world-leading Sheffield blade manufacturer, Swann Morton, and this was their company safe. It certainly makes a great talking point and brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘internet safety!’”
Andrew had 18 years in the electrical industry, starting from a YTS at an electronics control company when he took the plunge to start his own business, datamills despite the impending recession in 2007. He explains, “Alongside my full time job, I had found myself increasingly being approached to work with organisations such as the YMCA. What started as a few self-employed hours alongside the full time day job, soon became a clear business opportunity when the YMCA offered me my first large contract.
Over the past five years, datamills has grown organically. I was the typical spare room start-up, but we desperately needed our new premises at Woodseats to accommodate our growing team.”
The nature of the work Andrew does has also changed over the past four years from what he calls “break-fix” to more strategic managed IT solutions.
“We have become particularly well known for providing bespoke IT solutions for charitable organisations and care homes- offering a range of services designed to keep their computers running smoothly and efficiently. From maintaining or updating systems and creating the right network, making the most of IT communications, tightening security, antivirus or ensuring the backup strategy is adequate for the business, they can rely on datamills’ fast, efficient service and competitive prices.”
