Finalist Christian New Media Awards 2014 - Innovative Use of New Media In Outreach

Fresh thinking as Net-walking takes a December walk

Sheffield’s popular, award winning Net-walking group is continuing apace, this December, with a wintery walk, through the beautiful Endcliffe Park. With a warm welcome to new and existing members, this social stroll is guaranteed to bring you a happy New Year.

Marketing and PR specialist and keen walker Faye Smith of Keep your Fork, who was recently a finalist in the Yorkshire Women of Achievement in Business Awards, runs Net-walking jointly with childcare specialist Lucy Lippolis. “I offer free marketing and PR advice as one of my ways of ‘giving back’ to small and start up businesses who are brilliant at what they do, but often have little experience of selling their businesses to clients or the media and can’t afford expert advice”, says Faye whose fellow walkers all offer each other fresh ideas and encouragement in the fresh air every third Friday of the month.
Net-Walking was recently nominated for two awards in the national What’s On For Me Awards, as best networking group and best hobby to business support, by avid Netwalker Gemma Daniels, from Hydra Creative. “The group has been such a help to local producers, craftspeople, small businesses and professionals alike”, says marketing director Gemma. “Faye has carried on running it and supporting businesses despite two terrible personal tragedies, so I really felt we should get behind such a wonderful concept. It is something I know the men and women who attend really look forward to each month and fits nicely into busy business days. We are so thrilled the business community and public have voted Net-Walking as runner up for the best networking group and winner for best hobby to business support.”
The next FREE Fresh Air Friday net-walk starts 9am on Friday 20th of December, about 3 miles up the Porter Valley and back from Endcliffe Park Café, returning to the café for a well-deserved optional drink on completion. Entrepreneurs, experts and employees welcome! Meet at the café at 9am, rain or shine with suitable clothing, footwear and business cards.
